Originally, the Diablo was to be the celebration car, however, it was not ready for production. Instead, Lamborghini decided to use the Countach but still wanted a new model, so what they did was this, the 25th Anniversary. An entirely new car, with only a few carry over items from the 5000QV, the 25th anniversary was loosely based around the earlier QV model, however, body panels were now made out of composite materials, both front and rear bumpers were redesigned, new wing air scoops, redesigned suspension. Suspension modifications were done to make the car dramatically more driveable, overcoming a strong criticism of the earlier Countachs.

A new interior also featured, with modified seats to accommodate normally proportioned people, electric windows were fitted and air conditioning was standard fit as well as the 5.2 litre V12.
