Its recommended that the sponge unit is replaced every 2/3 months if in constant use. If using at a beach, ensure no sand enters the roller ball or sponge as it could stop the buddies from working to its full potential. Remove any excess sand from the body before applying lotion. Solar Buddies work with most sunscreens. We advise not to use oily or watery type sunscreens (e.g Sprays) as they can leak. For us, conventional sunscreens from squeezy bottles work best. Use generous amounts of sunscreen and apply every 2 hours regardless of its stated daily recommendations to ensure full ongoing protection. Sunscreen can become less effective if you sweat, remove clothing and go swimming, so reapply after all of these. Apply sunscreen at least 20 minutes before going out. Cover all exposed areas and dont forget places like the back of the neck, back of knees, tops of ears, nose, and scalp. Use other sun safe procedures as well as using sunscreen. Wear a hat, sunglasses, keep well hydrated and covered up with SPF protective clothing. Try and Stay out of the sun during 11am-3pm or seek shade when the sun is at its strongest.
