Will internet work on my phone?

To check whether your mobile phone supports mobile internet access, check the features listed in the manual or contact your service provider. If you have any problems accessing mobile internet services on your internet-enabled mobile phone, please contact your mobile service provider.

How do I enter a mobile site address?

The place where you enter the address or URL for a mobile Internet site is different on every phone model. It's usually through options like 'Go to URL' or 'Enter Address'. For more information on this refer to your handset manual or visit your service provider or phone manufacturer's website where you can look at the manuals online.

How do I bookmark a Mobile Internet site?

Bookmarking a Mobile Internet site on your mobile will make it easier for you to find it again next time.

  1. Go to the page you want to bookmark
  2. Select 'Options', 'Menu' or 'More' (wording varies depending on your phone)
  3. Select 'Bookmarks', 'Favourites' or 'Tools'
  4. Select 'Add Bookmark' or 'Add favourite'

Once you have performed the above, next time you can simply select the Mobile Internet site link from your Bookmarks/Favourites menu to go straight there. If your phone asks if you want to 'connect to the network' or 'connect to the server' select 'yes'.

Why are some sites so slow?

Mobile internet site access times depend on the size and graphical content of the website. Sites with more text than pictures load faster. It can also depend on your mobile and the connection speed available on the network at the time.

Why do I keep getting error messages?

Error messages will contain details about the error. Errors may be caused by poor network reception, so it's always worth trying to use the service again later.

Can I use Mobile Internet products?

A large number of mobile phones support mobile internet products. A key requirement is that the mobile phone is internet-enabled. Please refer to your mobile phone manual if you are not sure if your mobile phone is internet-enabled.

Why can't I use the mobile internet on my phone?

You may not have a web-enabled mobile phone. If you want to browse the web from your mobile, we recommend you check with your service provider as to what web-enabled models have the functions you want.

Why can I not see any photos on Tradingpost Mobile?

Mobile internet site access times depend on the size and graphical content of the website. Sites with more pictures than text may not load as fast as those with fewer pictures. If the ad you are looking at has a lot of photos, it may take a little longer. Loading items can also depend on your mobile and the connection speed available on the network at the time.

My password isn't working. What can I do?

If you forget your username or password, you will need to go to www.tradingpost.com.au from your computer to use our Password Reminder service.

How do I get Tradingpost on my mobile?

Tradingpost Mobile is FREE*. To get started, just use your mobile to go to mobile.tradingpost.com.au. Anyone with a compatible phone can browse Tradingpost Mobile, but you must sign in before you can buy. Simply click 'Sign in' and use your Tradingpost username and password.

If you don't have an account yet, use your computer to register at www.tradingpost.com.au. Registration is FREE.

How do I use Tradingpost Mobile?

There are three ways to search on Tradingpost Mobile.

  • Keyword - Type keywords directly into the search field.
  • Browse - From the homepage, click Automotive or General Merchandise. Then simply click your way through the categories until you find what you're looking for.
  • Detailed search - Click 'Detailed search', then fill in a keyword, catagory, price range and location.

Can I search for items close to where I am located on Tradingpost Mobile?

Tradingpost Mobile enables you to search for items by state. You can then review your search results to select an item located close to you.

I'm not a registered user of tradingpost.com.au - can I register through Tradingpost Mobile?

No. If you don't have a tradingpost.com.au account yet, you will have to use your computer to register at www.tradingpost.com.au. Remember, registration is FREE!

What if I buy a new internet enabled mobile device - will Tradingpost Mobile be instantly available on it?

If you have a web-enabled mobile device, you should be able to access Tradingpost Mobile. It’s always best to check with your service provider as to what models and plans will best suit you.

Does using the service use up precious call time on my mobile phone plan?

Before using Tradingpost Mobile, be sure to check your mobile plan first as your mobile service provider may charge data connection and download fees. Remember it’s free* to browse if you are a Next-G customer!

Selling with Tradingpost Mobile

Why are we doing it?

We want to provide a simple and convenient option for our sellers to sell their items any way they can! Most mobile phones now have cameras, so taking the picture, creating the ad and making payment can all be done on the one device. Easily!

Is it really free to browse?

If you’re a Telstra customer, there are no data charges to browse the Tradingpost Mobile site, place an ad or to upload the photo/s from within the Tradingpost Mobile application. However, standard rates will apply when sending photos via email on mobile or MMS to Tradingpost.

My phone has been stolen and an ad has been placed on it fraudulently. Can I get a refund?

You’ll need to check the terms and conditions of your mobile plan. As a general rule, you are responsible for all calls and content charged to your phone bill regardless of loss or theft.

*Data retrieval charges do not apply for Telstra Next G and 3G customers browsing Tradingpost Mobile, however retrieval charges may apply for other users. Please check with your mobile service provider for more information. Data connection charges may apply when using Tradingpost Mobile. Standard internet charges apply for accessing Tradingpost.
