Help: Frequently Asked Questions

How much will my ad cost?

The fees for your ad are calculated either when you create your ad or when your item sells. The fees are based on:

  • the price of your item
  • how you choose to sell your item (ie Classified, Buy Now or Auction)
  • which ad package or listing features

Read ad cost and fees for details on which fees may apply for your ad and how they’re calculated.

This ad does not have a phone number. Why not?

If you're looking at a Classified ad for a vehicle, boat or pet, you need to click the View contact details to reveal the seller's phone number or email.

For further details read viewing ads with no phone number.

Seller's contact details are not included in Buy Now ads or Auctions. This means that the sale, and any communication between the buyer and seller leading up to the sale, takes place online via tradingpost.com.au. See how to communicate with sellers when they're selling the item with an Auction or Buy Now ad..

I'm having trouble viewing ads on Trading Post. How do I fix this?

If you’re having trouble viewing ads, it may be because your Internet Browser has a full cache. It’s a good idea to empty the cache on your web browser to remove temporary internet files and cookies to see if this fixes the problem.

If you are using Internet Explorer:

  1. Open Internet Explorer, and click on Tools in the top menu, then click Internet Options.
  2. Click Delete Cookies. You will be asked to confirm this, click on OK.
  3. Click Delete Files button. Again, you will be asked to confirm this - click OK.
Depending on how many files there in the Temporary Internet Files folder, this could take between 10 seconds and 5 minutes. When the computer has finished, the mouse pointer will change back from an hourglass to an arrow.
  4. Then click Clear History. You will be asked to confirm – click Yes.
Again this could take up to 5 minutes depending on how much you browse the Internet.
  5. When the mouse pointer changes back from an hourglass to an arrow, click OK and restart Internet Explorer.
