Help: Fees and Surcharges Policy

Fee payments - Trading Post

When you place ads through Trading Post Online you will be advised what fees you are liable for.

You can pay with the following credit cards:

  • Mastercard
  • Visa
  • AMEX or
  • Diners Club.

You can request a tax invoice to be sent to you for any advertising fees you pay us.

If your credit card transaction fails, you may incur late payment fees, as well as any debit collection fees incurred.

Fee payments - Bulk Listing Tools

If you place ads through any Authorised Ad Tool you may be provided with an estimate of the fees you are liable for in relation to those ads through the tool itself, and details of the total amounts you owe us in respect of those ads will be set out in the monthly invoice we send you in accordance with the Terms of Use and any additional terms of use applying to that tool.

Your monthly invoice will itemise transactions charged to your Trading Post account during the month. On the invoice due date, Trading Post will subsequently debit your registered credit card. If your credit card transaction fails, you may incur late payment fees, as well as any debit collection fees incurred.

Transfer of fees or surcharges to the buyer

Listing fees

The listing fee for ads is to be paid by the seller. Sellers are not allowed to transfer these fees to buyer by adding an extra fee to the final winning bid amount or sale price.

Payment surcharges

Payment surcharges are fees passed to the merchant or seller by a bank or payment service provider for the provisioning the payment service.

Examples of a bank or payment service provider’s surcharges and fees include, but not limited to:

  • Bank cheques
  • Money orders
  • Credit cards
  • PayPal
  • PayMate.

Sellers are not allowed to charge buyers additional surcharges or fees from banks or payment services providers as an additional cost on top of the sale price or final winning bid amount. These surcharges or fees should be included within the total cost of the item.

Adding GST

Where GST is applicable on any items you are selling the advertised price must be inclusive of GST. It can not be charged to the buyer as an additional cost on top of the sale price or final winning bid amount.

Why can’t fees or surcharges be transferred to the buyer?

In any retail marketplace, it is normal practice to include all overhead costs into the cost of the item so as not mislead customers. However, customers will accept additional costs for delivery and handling, as it is normal retail practice.

Breaches of this policy

Breaching these policies may result in ad cancellation, account suspension and/or loss of fees on cancelled ads.
