Help: Get to know your buyer

When you’re selling on Trading Post, it’s a good idea to check up on your buyers and bidders by looking at their feedback and ratings.

What is Feedback & Ratings?

After an item sells on Trading Post, buyer and seller are encouraged to rate and provide feedback on each other based on their experiences throughout the sale, such as:

  • how the buyer/seller handled themselves
  • if payment was made/received promptly
  • whether the item was delivered within a reasonable time period
  • if the condition of the item matched the description in the ad
  • any particular positives (great packaging, prompt delivery, quick payment) or negatives (didn’t respond to emails).

Why check a buyer’s feedback?

Feedback gives an indication of a buyer’s reputation within the Trading Post® community.

Before deciding to sell your item to a particular buyer, take into account the experiences other sellers have had with the same buyer by checking their feedback and ratings.

Read feedback & ratings to see how they work and check out some examples that show exactly what all the numbers mean.

What can you do if you think the buyer isn’t trustworthy?

If you don’t think the buyer is trustworthy, or you’re worried that their bid isn’t genuine, look at how to manage your bidders & buyers for options on how to only sell to members you feel safe transacting with.

You can also set up your buyer preferences in your My Preferences in Ad Tools. You can set your preferences to ban buyers with a certain feedback score from buying or bidding on your items.
