Help: Responding to questions

Buyers can ask you questions about the item you’re selling via tradingpost.com.au.

Responding promptly, honestly and clearly to a question:

  • might help the buyer decide more quickly if they’d like to purchase your item
  • may help you achieve a sale from a buyer who is looking at ads for similar items
  • shows you are a reliable seller – important when it comes time for the buyer to provide feedback on their transaction with you.

Note: You can only receive and answer a buyer question if you are selling your item with an Auction or a Buy Now ad

Will the buyer be able to tell who I am?

The only detail about you that the buyer will be able to see is your username and feedback rating. Likewise, you will only see the buyer’s username and feedback rating.

Names, addresses and email addresses remain private until you successfully sell your item; that is when the buyer:

  • is the winner of the Auction
  • commits to purchasing through a Buy Now ad.

Can everyone who looks at my ad see the question?

You can either:

  • keep their question and your answer private, or
  • publish both their question and your answer in your ad for the benefit of other potential buyers who might want to know the same information.

It’s completely up to you.
