Help: Removing ads

If you’ve sold your item, or if things don’t go to plan and you may need to remove your ad or end your Auction early.

Legitimate reasons for removing an ad or ending an auction include:

  • Your item has been sold
  • your item has been lost or broken
  • your item is no longer available for sale
  • there was a mistake in the ad or the price

Can I remove my ad?

Rules apply to removing ads according to the type of ad you placed.

Classified ads

You can remove your ad at any time if you’ve got a legitimate reason.

If you’ve sold your item, you must remove your ad. When you’ve removed it, it’ll appear in your “sold” items folder.

Buy Now ads

You can remove your ad at any time if you’ve got a legitimate reason.

Auctions

You can remove your ad if you’ve got a legitimate reason and one of the following situations applies:

  • if no bids have been placed on your item
  • if your reserve price has not been met
  • if bids have been placed on your item and there are more than 12 hours left on your auction.

Unacceptable cancelling of Auctions

You can’t remove your ad just because your item has failed to reach a selling price you were hoping for. Trading Post® monitors removed ads carefully and we’ll investigate any removals that we suspect have been made without a legitimate reason.

If we suspect you’ve removed your ad or listing without a legitimate reason (or if it contravenes our Terms of Use), we’ll contact you to discuss further actions..
