What determines the cost of my ad?

The cost of your ad depends on how you choose to sell your item and how much you want for it.

There are 3 things that determine your ad cost:

Ad type
Which ad type is right for your item and is right for you? – Classified, Buy Now or Auction.
Selling price
Decide on a price for your vehicle or tips for pricing other items.
Ad package or features
Which ad package or listing features will you choose?

Fees for Classified ads

With Classified ads you only pay a fee when you create your ad.

The fee for a Classified ad is made up of:

Selling Price
How much you want for your item.
The package you choose
The more features in the package, the more visible it is to buyers.
For example, the ‘Premium Online + Print’ package gives you ultimate exposure as it includes the full range of features and an ad in the paper

Note: For ads with no sale price (i.e. Services, Lost & Found), you pay the maximum amount for the package you select. (eg. If you choose Value Online, you pay $24.95).

Adding extra words to a print ad

You may add extra words to your print ad at a cost of $1.10 each.

Print ad word allowance

When placing an ad in a Trading Post paper or magazine, your ad package allows you to enter a number of words in your print ad for no additional cost. The allowance is 20 words with a Value package and 25 words with a Premium package.

The following details are automatically included in your print ad at no extra cost and do not contribute to the word allowance: selling price, selling attribute (eg. negotiable), ID type (eg. registration, VIN), business details (eg. business name), contact details (eg. phone number, email) and location (eg. suburb).
Note: These details are populated from the relevant fields when you create your ad.

Fees for Auctions and Buy Now ads

Listing Fee

There is no listing fee for a basic ad.

With a basic ad you get the following:

A title in the search results.
1 thumbnail picture in search results
1 picture on the ad details page.
A short description on the ad details page.

Take advantage of our unlimited free listing quota for Auction or Buy Now ads until 1st March 2009!

List as many ads as you like between now and 1st March and you won’t have to pay any listing fees. After the deadline, you can still list FREE with Auction and Buy Now, but the number of ads you list above your quota will attract an insertion fee.)

Features Fees

Select listing features when you create your ad. These enhance the appearance or positioning of your ad.

Success fees

Only pay success fees if you sell your item.

$0 – $10	Flat $0.50
$10.01 – $100	$0.50 for the first $10 Plus 5% of the selling price of your item from $10.01– $100
$100.01 – $1000	$5 for the first $100 Plus 2.5% of the selling price of your item from $100.01– $1000
Over $1000	$27.50 for the first $1000 Plus 1.25% of the selling price of your item over $1000

Paying Auction and Buy Now fees

Listing, feature and success fees are debited to your Trading Post account.

Reserve price fee for Auctions

With Auction, you may choose to include a reserve price for $0.10 which sets the minimum price you will accept for your item.
