Help: Ad costs & fees

What determines the cost of my ad?

The cost of your ad depends on 3 things.

  1. Selling price
Decide on a price for your vehicle or get tips for pricing other items.
  2. Ad package & features
Which ad package has the features that will show your item at it’s best?
  3. Category
In some specialised categories, different pricing rates may apply. See Category Rules for details.

Fees for Standard ads

$0 – $748

4% of the advertised price or final selling price of your item

Flat $29.95

Fees for Get Noticed! ads

$0 – $624

8% of the advertised price or final selling price of your item

Note: SSome categories (i.e. in Noticeboard), have no selling price as part of the ad, and therefore are charged a capped package price (eg. $29.95 for a Standard package and $49.95 for Get Noticed). This also applies to certain Real Estate & Business categories. See Category Rules for details.

Paying ad fees

Classified ads

With Classified ads you only pay your fees as a listing fee when you create your ad.

List your ads FREE!

Take advantage of our unlimited free listing quota for Auction or Buy Now ads until 30th December 2009!

List as many ads as you like between now and 30th December and you won’t have to pay any listing fees. After the deadline, you can still list FREE with Auction and Buy Now, but the number of ads you list above your quota will attract an insertion fee.)

Buy Now & Auction ads

You pay your fees as a success fee once your item has sold.

The success fee will be calculated on your final selling price:

  • Buy Now - the price you set in your ad
  • Auction - the price the highest bidder pays for your item
You don’t pay an initial listing fee for Buy Now or Auction ads.
All listing and success fees are debited to the credit card registered to your Trading Post account.

Reserve price fee for Auctions

If you’re placing an Auction ad in selected categories, you can choose to include a reserve price for $0.10 which sets the minimum price you will accept for your item.

To find out if you can sell your item with a reserve price, see Category Rules.
