Help: Credit card details
Trading Post® charges the fees for your ad to your registered credit card.
When do you need my credit card details?
If you’re placing an ad for an item priced over $500, or have chosen a Get Noticed! package, we'll need to get your credit card details before we can publish your ad. Free ads do not require a credit card.
If you’ve signed in prior to creating your ad, your card details will display automatically. If you’re registering for the first time while creating your ad, you'll be prompted to enter them on Step 3.
When you place an ad, we’ll charge you a listing fee, unless your ad is free.

Note: You may also need to provide us with updated credit card details if your Trading Post® account is frozen due to unpaid fees. Read When your credit card payment fails for further details on what to do when this happens.
Can I use a different credit card?
Yes. If you don't want to use your registered credit card you can enter the details of another card to:
- be used to pay for a particular ad, or
- to replace your registered credit card by checking the Update my registered credit card details checkbox.
What is a CCV or verification number?
The CCV or verification number is a 3 or 4-digit number that appears only on your credit card. It's often requested when your credit card is not physically presented for a transaction (eg purchases online or over the phone) to help confirm that the card is in your possession.
The CCV or verification number:
- for MasterCard, Visa and Diners Club cards, is the last 3 digits on the panel next to the signature panel
- for American Express cards, is the 4-digit number above your card number
Does Trading Post® store my credit card details?
No. All credit card numbers are stored by VeriSign, a leading provider of and specialist in digital trust services. Go to Credit Card Security to read about how your credit card details are protected.
Do I get a tax invoice?
You can request to have a tax invoice mailed to you by selecting the checkbox ‘Please send me a tax invoice upon completion of payment’.
