Help: Reporting fraud

Trading Post® takes illegal activities and your security on our site very seriously.

What is fraud?

Fraud is an attempt to rip someone off. These are some of the things we think might be a sign of fraud on tradingpost.com.au:

  • potentially illegal or questionable ads
  • phishing incidents or spoof emails
  • unauthorised activity on your account
  • invalid contact information from another buyer or seller
  • an incident that could include fraud (eg receiving an item that was not as it was described, an email requesting your personal information or account and password details)
  • a buyer or seller you suspect is not genuine.

How do I report fraud?

Here are a few good reasons…

  1. Fraud is a criminal offence. Ignoring it could mean that a scammer gets away with the crime, leaving them free to offend again.
  2. Reporting suspected fraud helps us:
    • investigate an incident and take appropriate action
    • protect buyers and sellers, including you, from a scam
    • inform others of scams that may be operating on online trading sites so they can better protect themselves.
  3. We have an entire team dedicated to detecting and preventing it.

Not sure it’s fraud? If you notice something a bit odd, but you’re not sure it’s a scam, we’d like to know about it anyway. Email us to set our guys the task of investigating it. They’ll get back to you once they’ve checked it out.
