Help: Feedback & Ratings
The Feedback & Ratings is designed to encourage fair and honest trading, and to help keep Trading Post® a safe and enjoyable place to buy and sell online.
How does Feedback & Ratings work?
Feedback & Ratings help you build a trading reputation on Trading Post®.
Each time you buy or sell, you’ll receive feedback and a rating (positive, neutral or negative) from the other trader, based on their experience in dealing with you.
Your rating and the feedback can then be checked by any other Trading Post® member.
Why it works so well
As Trading Post® members can check each other’s feedback and ratings, a negative rating or poor feedback may affect a member’s ability to buy and sell. This provides incentive to trade fairly.
Why view Feedback & Ratings
Checking another member’s feedback and ratings is a great way to help you decide if you want to trade with them. By seeing how other buyers and sellers have rated their dealings with that member, you can make up your mind about whether you think they’re an honest and reliable trader.
Trading Post® recommends taking a member’s feedback and ratings into consideration when deciding to:
- sell your item to a particular buyer, or
- buy an item from a particular seller.
How do I view Feedback & Ratings?
You can check:
- another member’s feedback and ratings by:
- clicking on their Username, or
- clicking on the Seller Feedback tab from within a seller’s ad
- our feedback and ratings by signing in to Ad Tools® and going to Feedback under My Profile.
About ratings
Members rate their experiences with other members as either:
- positive (rating of 1)
- neutral (rating of 0), or
- negative (rating of -1).
An overview of a member’s feedback & ratings is provided as:
- Trading Post® Rating
Is the number of positive ratings minus the number of negative ratings. - Positive Feedback Rating
Percentage of all ratings received that were positive.
You can also see a summary of ratings provided over the last month, 6 months, 12 months or since the member registered.
About feedback
In addition to providing a rating, members can also provide details about their experience in the form of feedback.
Simply use the tabs to view feedback the member has received and provided.
How do I provide Feedback & Ratings?
The success of the Feedback & Ratings relies heavily on all member providing feedback each and every time they buy and sell online.
For details on how to provide feedback and suggestions on what you can include, check out:
Remember: Your reputation is important to trade successfully on Trading Post®. The feedback you leave for someone else is as much a reflection of how you conduct yourself online as the feedback you receive. Check out the Feedback & Rating Policies for guidelines on sending feedback to members.
A good point to note
Try to resolve any disputes or misunderstandings you may have with a member before sending any negative feedback. A majority of members will attempt to resolve any issues in order to retain their trading reputation.
Common Questions
- Why can’t I send feedback for the Classified item I've bought?
For feedback to be valuable, it needs to reflect how a buyer and seller managed a transaction, especially since they don’t actually meet. Since Classified ad transactions don’t occur online, it can be difficult for us to know if and when a transaction has taken place. To ensure our site remains a trusted place to trade, feedback is only collected for those transactions that we facilitate. So for now, we only allow feedback to be exchanged for sales through Buy Now ads and Auctions. - When do I receive feedback?
You can receive feedback at any time once item is sold.
As a general rule though:- The seller sends feedback after they’ve received payment and sent the item.
- The buyer sends feedback after they’ve received the item.
Any feedback you receive is posted on your member profile. - Can I respond to feedback?
Yes. Buyers and sellers can respond once to feedback they’ve received. See responding to feedback for more details. - What if I think the feedback I have received is unfair?
If you think you’ve received some unfair feedback, try to resolve the issue by contacting the other member. If you can both come to an agreement, you can request an Agreed Feedback Withdrawal to have the feedback removed and your rating recalculated if necessary.
