Help: When your item sells
Sold an item through an Auction or Buy Now ad wondering what to do next? The steps below will guide you through the process of receiving payment and delivering the item to the buyer.
Make sure your credit card details are up to date so that we can deduct any success fees owing from the sale of your item. We’ll deduct the success fees as soon as your item sells and let you know how much they were in our item sold notification email.
Item status
When you’re completing the sale you can check which step you’re up to looking at the status of the item in your Ad Tools.
- Select any item under Sold and to view the Status of the item.
- The yellow highlighted area will indicate which step you’re up to.
- Marking each step as you complete it will inform the buyer of their next step.
The buyer’s contact details
Trading Post exchanges your contact details (eg. name, street address and email address) with the buyer’s via email so you can make direct contact, if you need to at any stage, to complete the sale.
Make sure you check that your contact details are up to date so that the buyer can reach you. If your details are out of date, email the buyer the correct details.
1. Buyer completes checkout
The buyer will complete checkout where they can select from the payment and delivery methods you offer. Trading Post® will then email you the buyer’s preferred options.

2. Confirm payment details
Check the options the buyer has selected and if necessary forward additional information (eg. bank account details) the buyer may need to complete payment.

3. Confirm that payment has been received
Once the buyer has paid the item’s status will appear as Confirm payment. Check that you have received payment and the amount has cleared before sending the item or making arrangements for delivery.
Once you are sure you’ve received the money, sign in to Ad Tools and select the item, then click Confirm payment to inform the buyer.

4. Arrange collection or send the item
Now you can post the item or make arrangements with the buyer to collect the item.
Once you’ve sent the item or they have collected it, sign in to Ad Tools® and select the item, then click Select seller to send item to inform the buyer.

5. Send feedback to the buyer
Rate and provide feedback about your experience with the buyer for the benefit of others who may trade with them in the future.
