Help: Changing my details

Make sure you keep your details up to date so that buyers, sellers and Trading Post®can contact you quickly to let you know when you’ve sold or bought items.

What details can I change?

You can make changes to your:

  • password
  • secret question
  • personal information – name, credit card details, phone numbers, address, email.
Please note that you cannot change your username.

How to update your details

You can update and change your details anytime you like.

  • Sign in to Ad Tools and go to My Profile.
  • Click Personal information.
  • Click Edit to change your details or click Update to change credit card details.

Passwords

Create a password you will remember but is difficult for others to guess.

Your password:

  • must can be between 6 and 30 characters
  • is case sensitive
  • must include at least 1 mixed case letter (a combination of upper and lower case letters), number or special character

What is a strong password?

A strong password is one that is made difficult to guess. They generally:

  • include a combination of:
    • numbers and letters
    • upper and lower case, and
    • special characters
  • appear to be random
  • are not words that can be found in the dictionary

Secret question & answer

Select a secret question you will remember the answer to. If you forget your username or password you will have to answer the secret question to retrieve your username or to create a new password.

Email

When you update your email address Trading Post® requires you to verify your new address. This is to ensure that the address is correct and that you are able to receive important emails from Trading Post®.

Trading Post® will send you an email containing a verification link to your new email address. Please follow the instructions in the email to confirm your address.

Trading Post® will never request confirmation of, or additions to, your personal information or username or password through an email.

Changing contact details


Phone numbers

You must enter at least one landline or mobile phone number.

Street address

You must enter a street address. PO Box or GPO numbers are not accepted.

Changing credit card details

Trading Post will not accept most international credit cards. For security reasons Trading Post® does not store your credit card details therefore only the last four numbers of you card will display in My Profile. See credit card security to read about how your credit card details are protected.

You may also be asked to update your credit card details if we cannot deduct fees owing from the card details supplied. You will also need to provide us with your credit card details again if your account is frozen due to unpaid fees.

You will also need to provide the verification number on your credit card.

  • What details do buyers see when I sell with Trading Post?
    See what contact details are displayed in ads or supplied to buyers after you sell your item.
  • Can I register more than once with Trading Post?
    No. If you have previously registered with Trading Post® you must use this account. If you’ve previously registered with Trading Post® before but forgotten your sign in details, you can retrieve your username and password.
