Register with Trading Post® – it’s free!
If you’ve previously registered with Trading Post® but forgotten your sign in details, you can easily retrieve your username and password.
How to register
- If you are ready to place an ad, simply click Sell to start placing your ad and you can register at the same time.
- Or just click on Register.

Tips for creating a username, password & secret question
Username
Create a username you will remember. You will need this to sign in every time you buy or sell with Trading Post.
Choose your username carefully as it cannot be changed.
Your username:
- must be between 6 and 20 characters
- can consist of letters, numbers, full-stop, underscore or dash
- must not include spaces.
Passwords
Create a password you will remember but is difficult for others to guess.
Your password must be six or more characters in length.
What is a strong password?
A strong password is one that is made difficult to guess. They generally:
- include a combination of:
- numbers and letters
- upper and lower case, and
- special characters
- appear to be random
- are not words that can be found in the dictionary

Secret question & answer
Select a secret question you will remember the answer to. If you forget your username or password you will have to answer the secret question to retrieve your username or to create a new password.
Supplying your personal details
Contact details
Phone numbers
You must enter at least one landline or mobile phone number.
Street address
You must enter a street address. PO Box or GPO numbers are not accepted.
Email
The Trading Post® will email you to notify you of matters related to your Trading Post® account. So it’s important that your email address is correct and always up to date.
You may receive emails:
- notifying you about ads you’ve placed, items sold or bought, etc.
- notifying you of questions from interested buyers or responses from sellers
- to supply you with your username if you forget it.
By setting your email preferences you can choose which email alerts you wish to receive from Trading Post.
Supplying your contact details to other Trading Post® members
See which contact details are displayed in ads or supplied to other members after you buy or sell items.
Trading Post® will never request confirmation of, or additions to, your password through an email.
Activation of your profile
After you register you need to activate your Trading Post® profile. This allows us to confirm your details and validate you as a new Trading Post® member.
Why activate?
When you activate you become a Trading Post® member. As a member you can:
- be notified when your online Classified ad is about to expire and renew it online FREE!
- make changes to your ad at any stage.
- supply your details once – no need to resupply your details every time you place an ad
- bid on Auctions and win items and buy items through Buy Now
- save your favourite searches and save ads that you’re interested in.
How to activate
After you register Trading Post® will send you an email containing a verification link and activation code. Please follow the instructions in the email to activate your profile.
You have 7 days in which to validate, after this time you will need to reregister if you want to buy and sell with Trading Post®.
Common questions
- What details can I change after I register?
See changing my details to find what details you can change and how. - Can I register more than once with Trading Post®?
No. If you have previously registered with Trading Post® you must use this account. If you’ve previously registered with Trading Post® but forgotten your details, you can retrieve your username and password. - I signed up to become a member but I didn’t activate my registration. What can I do?
If you have the Activation email from Trading Post, you can click on the activation link to activate your profile. Otherwise, sign in to Trading Post and the Activate Your Profile page will appear. Here you can request to have a new activation email sent to you.
