Planning a 10-day South Australia road trip? Easy: start in Adelaide, dip to the Fleurieu (McLaren Vale, Victor Harbor), then loop north through the Barossa and Clare for civilized grape-based hydration.
Push on to the Flinders Ranges—Wilpena Pound is a stunner—and you’ll clock about 500–700 km from Adelaide depending on detours, so pack snacks and a sense of awe. Swing west via Port Augusta to the Eyre Peninsula for Coffin Bay oysters and Port Lincoln coastlines; that arc adds roughly 800–1,000 km of big-sky cruising. Return via the Yorke Peninsula and Innes National Park, then amble back to Adelaide with sand still in your shoes and probably a bag of hot chips. Best time is autumn or spring; roads are sealed but watch for wildlife at dusk, and keep fuel stops sensible outside of towns. If you’ve got extra time, Kangaroo Island is worth a ferry hop, but on a tight 10 days it’s a squeeze—save it for the sequel.
