2007 ford falcon bf problems

The 2007 Ford Falcon BF is tough as old boots, but age and Aussie roads can still dish out a few gremlins.

When shopping or diagnosing, watch for these common issues:

  • Rear differential bush wear causing thumps/clunks on take‑off.
  • Front lower control arm bushes and ball joints wearing, leading to vague steering or tyre chop.
  • Automatic transmission shudder or harsh shifts (ZF 6‑speed or 4‑speed); overdue fluid services and leaking seals don’t help.
  • Cooling system woes: cracked expansion tanks, tired hoses, and radiator leaks.
  • Ignition coil pack misfires on the 4.0 I6, especially under load.
  • Brake shudder from warped/cheap rotors after spirited stops.
  • Door lock actuators and ICC/headunit glitches (sticky CD stackers, dim backlights).

Bring a cold-start, check for fluid leaks and service history (trans fluid every ~60,000 km is a good habit), and budget for bushes and brakes.

Parts are plentiful and cheap in Australia, so a sorted BF can be brilliant value; a neglected one, not so much.
