2010 holden barina common problems

The 2010 Holden Barina (TK) is cheap, cheerful, and occasionally a bit creaky—here’s what commonly goes wrong in Australia.

Typical trouble spots include:

• Timing belt overdue or water pump weeping
• Ignition coil/leads causing misfires and rough idle
• Coolant leaks from plastic thermostat housing or radiator end tanks
• Worn engine mounts and front control arm bushes
• Noisy wheel bearings and tired shocks
• Harsh/slow shifts on the 4‑speed auto if fluid’s been neglected
• Electrical gremlins: window regulators, central locking, dash backlights

A full service history is gold; make sure the belt has been changed on time and listen for knocks or misfires on a test drive. Parts are cheap and fixes are simple, but a neglected one can turn bargain into boomerang.
