2011 ford mondeo problems Page 2

The 2011 Ford Mondeo is a sweet long-hauler, but time and kilometres expose a few gremlins.

• PowerShift 6‑speed dual‑clutch can shudder, slip or hesitate; fresh fluid and software updates help, but big fixes can be pricey.
• Diesel 2.0 TDCi: DPF clogging with short trips, EGR soot build-up, boost leaks and the odd turbo actuator tantrum.
• Cooling system weeps (thermostat housing, hoses, sometimes radiator end tanks) that can lead to overheating if ignored.
• Front suspension wear—lower control-arm bushes, sway-bar links and strut mounts—causing clunks and wandery alignment.
• Electrical niggles: failing door lock actuators and split tailgate wiring (wagons) messing with locks and lights.

Service it on time, use quality fluids, and on diesels follow the timing-belt schedule—get a pre-purchase inspection before parting with the hard-earned.
