• Water pump/thermostat housing leaks on 1.4/2.0 petrols; look for coolant loss or pink crust around the unit.
• Coil pack and sensor gremlins causing misfires or rough idle, often cheap but annoying.
• Suspension bush wear and wheel bearings bringing thumps or hums on coarse-chip highways.
• Diesels can clog DPFs with short-trip use; ensure proper regen and long-run habits.

Confirm recall work (notably early DSG updates) and get a pre-purchase inspection; your future sanity will thank you.
