2015 ford territory problems

The 2015 Ford Territory (SZ MkII) is a tough Aussie family bus, but like any veteran, it has a few aches worth checking before you hand over the folding stuff.

• Rear differential bush wear causing thumps on take-off or over bumps.
• Front control-arm bushes/ball joints wearing early, leading to clunks and uneven tyre wear.
• ZF 6-speed auto shudder or harsh shifts if servicing is neglected; look for leaks and a crisp service history.
• Diesel 2.7: EGR/intake soot build-up and the odd split intercooler hose; sluggish performance or whistle are clues.
• Petrol 4.0: misfires from tired ignition coils and thirsty around-town fuel use.
• Brake shudder from warped rotors under heavy use.

A thorough pre-purchase inspection and up-to-date servicing tame most of these gremlins—and your ears will thank you on the school run.
