2023 eclipse australia

On 20 April 2023 Australia copped a rare hybrid solar eclipse: totality swept right over Exmouth in WA, while much of the country saw a partial.

Totality in Exmouth was brief—under a minute—but jaw-dropping enough to justify the road trip, the camping, and the bragging rights.

Elsewhere it was a healthy nibble of the Sun, strongest across WA and the Top End, fading as you moved east.

If you’re wondering, yes, proper eclipse glasses were mandatory unless you fancied a date with the optometrist.
