2023 forester review Page 2

The 2023 Subaru Forester is the sensible shoes of mid-size SUVs: not flashy, but it’ll march across Australia without a squeak.

Its 2.5‑litre boxer four makes 136 kW/239 Nm through a CVT and permanent AWD, with real-world economy around 7–8 L/100 km; the Hybrid’s modest assist trims that a touch.

You get generous space, a tall driving position and 498 L of boot, plus 220 mm of clearance for gravel detours—think coastal shacks, not Cape York.

Infotainment looks dated but works, and EyeSight driver aids keep the ANCAP 5‑star (2019) vibes honest.

It rides comfortably, steers cleanly, and only grumbles when asked to sprint; if you want fireworks, look elsewhere, but for family duty it’s delightfully drama-free.
