$20 000 instant asset write-off Page 2

Ah, the $20,000 instant asset write-off—Australia's little tax treat for businesses looking to shave off some taxable income faster than a dodgy mechanic can say "she'll be right." Essentially, eligible businesses can immediately deduct the cost of assets up to $20,000 in the year they’re purchased and ready for use. This means no waiting around for depreciation schedules to do their slow dance.

Keep in mind, this concession usually targets small to medium businesses with an aggregated turnover below a specific threshold, and the asset must be used or installed ready for use within the income year.

If you’re eyeing this for your business, check the latest from the Australian Taxation Office because thresholds and eligibility can shift faster than a V8 on a straight.
