On sealed roads, most 4WD utes and SUVs are happiest around 220–260 kPa cold, unless your door placard says otherwise.
Load up the tray or hitch a van and bump it to roughly 260–300 kPa; light-truck (LT) tyres often like the upper end.
Always set pressures cold, and resist the urge to bleed air when they’re hot—that’s how you turn a tyre into soup.
Too low gives squirm, heat build-up and edge wear; too high means a skittish ride and centre wear.
Check the placard inside the driver’s door, then fine‑tune a little for comfort and even tread temps after a decent stint.
If in doubt, 240–250 kPa is a safe starting point for many 4WDs on-road while you get acquainted.
