79 series manual to auto conversion cost Page 4110

Thinking of swapping your trusty 79 Series manual for an automatic? Brace yourself for a wallet workout. Conversion costs can range from $3,000 to $8,000 AUD, depending on the quality of the transmission, labour rates, and whether you go for a genuine Toyota auto box or a cheaper aftermarket option. Used automatics can be found on sites like Tradingpost and CarShowroom, which might save you a few bucks. Don’t forget to factor in additional parts like the clutch pedal removal, wiring harness modifications, and ECU reprogramming. As always, confirm specifics with a reputable mechanic or Toyota specialist before diving in.
