7kw split system room size Page 8

A 7 kW (~24,000 BTU) split system typically suits about 40–60 m² in a standard Aussie living area with ~2.4 m ceilings and decent insulation.

If you’ve got high ceilings, west‑facing glass, or steamy coastal heat, budget that down to roughly 30–45 m²; in a well‑insulated temperate spot, it can stretch to 60–75 m² without breaking a sweat.

Room size is only half the story—insulation, air leaks, sun exposure, and occupancy turn the dial more than you’d think.

As ever, check the manufacturer’s capacity tables for your climate zone and design conditions. Consult official documentation for exact figures.
