act road worthy Page 63

Ah, the ACT roadworthy inspection—your car's final exam before it gets a green light on the roads of Canberra. Essentially, it's a thorough check to ensure your vehicle meets safety and emissions standards. Expect them to eyeball your brakes, tyres, lights, suspension, and maybe even your wiper blades (yes, they care about those).

Costs typically run around $100 to $150 AUD, depending on where you get it done. If your car passes, you get a certificate that's valid for a set period—usually 3 months—before you have to do it again. Fail, and you'll need repairs before a re-inspection.

For the nitty-gritty and booking, check out local providers listed on ServiceCentral or CarShowroom. Don't underestimate this step—skip it, and you might find your car grounded or, worse, unsafe.
