In New South Wales, the law states that children under the age of 7 years must not sit in the front seat of a vehicle if the car has more than one row of seats. However, if the vehicle is a ute, taxi, or has no rear seats, children under 4 years may sit in the front with an appropriate restraint.
Between 7 and 16 years, children can sit in the front seat but must use the correct seatbelt or child restraint suitable for their age and size. The bottom line: safety first, and don't be that parent who treats the front seat like a throne for toddlers.
