amarok review 2023 Page 2

The 2023 Volkswagen Amarok borrows the Ford Ranger’s brains and adds a sharper suit—very clever, very Australian-friendly.

Engines range from a 2.0‑litre four-cylinder diesel to a brawny 3.0‑litre V6 diesel, most tied to a slick 10‑speed auto and proper 4x4 hardware for weekend heroics.

On road it’s calmer and quieter than the old one, with a big portrait touchscreen, more safety kit, and cabin storage for your entire glovebox junk drawer.

Towing tops out at 3,500 kg braked and payload hovers around a tonne, so yes, it’ll tow the boat and the ego. Pricing in Australia typically lands from the low‑$50Ks to around the $80K mark before on‑roads, depending on trim.

If you’re eyeing value, used and demo examples often pop up on Tradingpost—worth a stickybeak.
