Australia’s headline act in 2023 was the 20 April hybrid solar eclipse, with totality skimming across Exmouth and Barrow Island in WA for just over a minute. Most of the country copped a partial show—big bite in the northwest, slimmer nibble as you wandered east.
It was a hybrid job—annular over some ocean stretches, total over a very narrow land track—so location mattered more than your camping chair. If you watched, you needed proper ISO‑certified eclipse glasses or an indirect viewer; regular sunnies are as useful as a chocolate teapot. Missed it? There are more eclipses coming to Australia in the next few years, but none will replay Exmouth’s party trick in a hurry.
