Short answer: not yet—Australia doesn’t currently mass-produce a passenger electric car. Local activity is mostly commercial: SEA Electric assembles e-trucks here, and a few boutique outfits do conversions that’ll empty your wallet faster than a Sydney parking meter. For everyday buyers, nearly all EVs are imports—think BYD, MG, Tesla, Hyundai and Kia—with full Australian support and warranty. Once a maker commits to right-hand-drive production and local assembly economics stack up, that could change; until then, shop the imports and enjoy the instant torque.
