BMW’s AUTO H button is Auto Hold: it keeps the brakes clamped when you come to a stop, so your right foot can nick a breather. Press it once and, after each halt, the car stays put until you tap the throttle—no hill rolls, no two-pedal tap dance. It uses the brake system via stability control rather than a traditional handbrake, and many models will pop the parking brake on when you switch off. Brilliant in traffic and on steep driveways, and far less drama than pretending you’re a statue at the lights.
