average speed camera victoria Page 56

Average speed cameras in Victoria are the bane of speedsters and the saviours of cautious drivers alike. They calculate your speed over a stretch of road rather than at a single point, catching those who think a quick blast past a solitary camera will fool the system. Designed to improve road safety, these cameras are typically found on highways and tunnels, keeping a watchful eye over several kilometres.

Key points:

• They measure your average speed between two fixed points.
• Speed limits vary depending on the road, so keep an eye out for signs.
• Penalties for speeding caught by these cameras can include hefty fines and demerit points.

To avoid the wrath of the Victorian traffic authorities, keep your speed in check and remember: it's not just about where you speed, but how long you do it.
