The 2021 Bathurst 1000 served up the usual Mount Panorama mayhem, only with extra sunscreen thanks to a December date shuffle.
Chaz Mostert and Lee Holdsworth won it for Walkinshaw Andretti United in a Holden Commodore ZB, covering the classic 161 laps and 1000 km like they had the mountain on speed dial.
Mostert’s pace was outrageous, and even a mid-race wobble couldn’t deny them, while the safety cars kept everyone’s blood pressure nicely elevated.
For the Ford faithful, there were podium smiles but no wreath; for the rest of us, it was a reminder that Bathurst still eats egos for breakfast.
