In 2023, Bathurst’s grid went full Gen3, meaning the field was basically two flavours: the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 and the Ford Mustang, both snarling, naturally aspirated V8 Supercars.

They run rear-wheel drive, a 6-speed sequential, big brakes and aero trimmed back compared with the old cars, which made the Mount Panorama wrestling match a touch spicier.

If you’re keeping score, Shane van Gisbergen and Richie Stanaway hurled a Camaro to victory, while parity debates kept the paddock’s blood pressure nicely elevated.

If you wanted spec-sheet heroics, think purpose-built tube frames with control components and engines tuned for endurance rather than fireworks.

In short: two badges, one mountain, and a whole lot of V8 thunder—because subtlety is for city car parks.
