best 20 inch 4wd tyres Page 4

Chasing the best 20‑inch 4WD tyres? Big rims look flash, but shorter sidewalls mean you’ll want tough construction and sensible pressures when the road turns to corrugations.

• BFGoodrich All‑Terrain T/A KO2: Pros—famously tough sidewalls and off‑road bite; Cons—firm ride, heavier, and can hum as they wear.
• Toyo Open Country A/T III: Pros—balanced on‑road manners, strong wet grip and longevity; Cons—less bite in deep mud and not the cheapest.
• Nitto Ridge Grappler: Pros—grippy hybrid A/T‑M/T pattern that’s surprisingly civil on bitumen; Cons—heavier and can drone on coarse‑chip.
• Cooper Discoverer AT3 LT: Pros—LT construction, long tread life and solid warranty; Cons—stiffer ride and availability can vary by size.

Match the load rating to your GVM/tow needs (LT spec if you tour), aim for a sensible profile like 275/55R20, and budget roughly AUD $380–$600 per tyre fitted. Buy with your ears and your use‑case—silence for commuting, sidewall for sand and rocks.
