• Toyota LandCruiser 200 Series: Pros—towering comfort, V8 diesel muscle, towing up to 3,500 kg; Cons—thirsty and pricey even used.
• Toyota Prado (GDJ150): Pros—family-friendly, long range with big tanks, proven 2.8D; Cons—modest power and a kid-sized third row.
• Ford Ranger (PXII/PXIII): Pros—strong 3.2D workhorse, comfy ride, huge accessory support; Cons—some auto/electrical niggles and prices crept up.
• Isuzu D‑MAX (pre-2020): Pros—near-bulletproof 3.0 4JJ1 and low running costs; Cons—plainer cabin and lighter safety tech than rivals.
