Asking for the best 4WDs in Australia is like arguing about footy teams—passionate, loud, and nobody’s truly wrong.

If you want long-haul touring and towing without drama, the Toyota LandCruiser and Nissan Patrol are the burly favourites, with Prado a sensibly sized understudy.

Prefer a ute? The Ford Ranger, Toyota HiLux, and Isuzu D‑MAX serve up strong 4x4 hardware, big towing, and massive aftermarket support.

For weekend warrior trails, the Jeep Wrangler and Land Rover Defender bring serious off‑road chops, while value hunters can eye Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Isuzu MU‑X.

Pick based on what you actually do: payload and towing limits, low‑range gearing, tyre clearance, and how far the next servo is—because outback bragging rights are useless on a flatbed.
