best car loans for bad credit Page 5

Bad credit doesn't mean you're doomed to the bus; it just means lenders want a bigger slice. Start with secured car loans from specialist lenders or credit unions, and compare the comparison rate, not just the teaser APR. Expect higher interest—often into the teens—so keep the term short, put down a decent deposit, and swerve balloon payments.

Get pre-approval so dealers can't shuffle numbers like a carnival magician. Audit the fees (establishment, monthly, early payout) and ensure you can get comprehensive insurance—most secured loans demand it. Check your credit file for errors, tidy any debts, and consider a guarantor only if both parties truly understand the risk. If you're eyeing a used buy on Tradingpost, stick to a realistic budget and make sure repayments sit comfortably under your living costs.
