best car speakers 2023 Page 5

Chasing the best car speakers of 2023? Forget neon cones and wild claims; what you want is clean mids, crisp highs and bass that doesn’t boom like a rubbish bin. For most Aussie rides, a quality 6.5-inch component set up front from brands like Focal, JL Audio, Hertz, Alpine or Pioneer will lift the soundstage dramatically. Match RMS power properly: aim for speakers around 60–100 W RMS per channel and, if you’re running a factory head unit, prioritise high sensitivity (around 90 dB+) and 4‑ohm loads. Add a modest amp and some door deadening and you’ll get more improvement than any glittery ‘1,000W!!!’ sticker could dream of. Expect to spend about AUD $150–$400 for a solid pair, or $600–$1,500 for audiophile sets; used gear can be great value if you buy carefully (Tradingpost often has bargains). Round it out with a discreet sub in the boot, set the crossovers sensibly, and your commute will sound like a private gig—minus the dodgy mosh pit.
