best car warranty Page 5

Asking for the “best car warranty” is like asking which pie is best—depends what you bite into.

In Australia, most brands offer 5-year, unlimited‑kilometre cover, while Kia and MG go to 7 years, unlimited km, and Mitsubishi advertises up to 10 years/200,000 km if you service with them (otherwise it’s five).

Premium brands often sit at 3–5 years and sweeten the deal with roadside assist, but headline years mean nothing if the fine print is stingier than a seagull with chips.

Check what’s actually covered (powertrain vs everything), claim caps, servicing requirements, excesses, transferability, and exclusions like “wear and tear”.

Buying used from a dealer may come with a statutory warranty depending on state; private sales usually don’t, so extended warranties become a “read the PDS twice” situation.

The “best” warranty is the one with broad coverage, easy claims and minimal hoops—years are nice, hassle-free fixes are nicer.
