For daytime driving, choose polarised lenses to kill glare off bonnets and wet roads, with neutral grey or brown tints for accurate colours.

Look for UV400 protection, a quality anti-reflective coating, and frames with decent side coverage so the sun doesn’t sneak in like a larrikin.

In Australia, pick lens category 2–3; category 4 is summit gear and not legal for driving.

Night driving? Skip tinted or yellow “miracle” lenses—use clear lenses with good anti-reflective coatings instead.

If you need prescription, consider photochromic lenses (noting some windscreens slow them) or clip-on/polarised overlays.

Fit beats branding: comfortable, stable, and no pressure points, or they’ll live in the glovebox forever.
