best electric car under $50k australia

Chasing the best electric car under $50k in Australia? Here’s the short list that actually makes sense.

• MG4 — Pros: sharp price, RWD poise, zippy performance; Cons: base range is modest and the cabin plastics feel a bit rental-spec.
• BYD Dolphin — Pros: strong value, generous safety kit, good efficiency; Cons: smallish boot and charging speeds are merely middling.
• GWM Ora — Pros: comfy city ride and fancy interior for the money; Cons: back-seat/boot space are tight and the brand is still building its dealer network.

Expect drive-away pricing from the high-$30Ks to high-$40Ks AUD, and don’t expect autobahn stamina—these are commuter champs, not grand tourers.
