Chasing the best EV SUV in Australia in 2023? Think budget, range, charging nearby and whether the dog cage actually fits before getting dazzled by kilowatts.

• Tesla Model Y — Pros: roomy, slick software, strong range/charging; Cons: firm ride and minimalist cabin won’t suit everyone.
• Kia EV6 — Pros: sharp handling and 800 V charging; Cons: rear visibility and pricing on higher trims.
• Hyundai Ioniq 5 — Pros: loungey cabin, rapid charging, comfy ride; Cons: big footprint and supply can be patchy.
• BYD Atto 3 — Pros: keen pricing and equipment; Cons: softer suspension tune and infotainment quirks.

Test-drive back-to-back and map your local chargers; the right pick is the one that fits your life, not just the spec sheet. No winners picked—this isn’t school sports day.
