best forward facing car seat australia Page 6

Asking for the “best” forward-facing car seat in Australia is like asking which ute is most comfortable on corrugations—fit matters more than the badge. Look for AS/NZS 1754 certification, a good harness height range, solid side-impact protection, and an installation that suits your car’s seating geometry. Extended-harness (Type G) seats keep kids in a 5-point harness up to roughly 8 years, and they use the vehicle seatbelt plus top tether (the top tether is mandatory here); ISOFIX is available on some 0–4 convertibles, not on Type G. Get a professional fitting or check with organisations like Kidsafe or your motoring club—because “she’ll be right” doesn’t apply to anchor points. Avoid second-hand seats with unknown history or those 10+ years from the manufacture date. In short: choose the seat that fits your child, your car, and your patience for buckling—then install it properly and sleep better.
