best locker for dmax Page 18

Asking the best locker for a D‑Max is like asking which pie is best at the servo—depends where you’re heading and how greasy you like it.

Here are the popular options and their trade-offs, so you can match the locker to your weekend heroics.

• ARB Air Locker (pneumatic): Pros—on‑demand lock, very strong, great control; Cons—needs a compressor, more plumbing/maintenance, pricier install.
• Harrop/Eaton ELocker (electric): Pros—on‑demand with simple wiring, no compressor, quick engagement; Cons—wiring/switch placement to plan, fewer accessories than air systems.
• Automatic locker (e.g., Lokka/Detroit): Pros—cheaper and robust, always ready; Cons—can click or affect on‑road manners, learning curve in the wet and tight turns.

Most people lock the rear first, then add a front for slow technical climbs; buy from a reputable installer and match ratios to your diff code to avoid expensive drama.
