Best of All Lookout sits in Springbrook National Park, about an hour’s drive from the Gold Coast, and it delivers exactly what it says on the tin—on a clear day you’ll see Wollumbin/Mt Warning, the Tweed Valley and the coastline laid out like a smug postcard.
The track is short and sealed, winding through eerie-lovely Antarctic beech forest that’s older than your uncle’s fishing stories. Weather rolls in fast up here, so pack a jacket and don’t be shocked if you’re staring at very atmospheric cloud instead of views. Sunrise and late afternoon are magic; midday is mostly for sunscreen enthusiasts. There’s parking at the trailhead, basic facilities only, and no dogs (national park rules).
Drive carefully—roads can be slippery after rain—and check park alerts if the weather’s having a tantrum. Take your camera, take your manners, and leave the place looking like you were never there.
