best small electric cars 2023

Hunting the best small electric cars of 2023 in Australia? City-sized, cheap to run, and just enough shove to make roundabouts mildly heroic.

• MG4 — Pros: sharp price, RWD fun; Cons: cabin materials and safety tech feel basic on lower trims.
• BYD Dolphin — Pros: space-for-size and value; Cons: ride polish and long-term resale are question marks.
• Cupra Born — Pros: engaging drive, solid range; Cons: pricier than MG/ BYD, infotainment learning curve.
• Mini Electric — Pros: go-kart feel, premium vibe; Cons: short range and two-door practicality tax.

Shortlist by daily range and charging options, then let your backside and budget decide—no gold medals here. For bargains, keep an eye on Tradingpost for lightly-used examples where the steep depreciation’s already done.
