best suv australia 2023 under 40k Page 9

Under $40k in Australia, you’re shopping the sensible end of the SUV pool—and that’s where the good stuff hides. Consider Kia Seltos and Mazda CX-30 for polish and road manners, Toyota Corolla Cross for frugality and resale, and base Subaru Forester if you want space plus all-weather confidence. Value hunters can eye MG HS or Haval Jolion: big equipment and long warranties, though ride and cabin finesse trail the class leaders. Aim for a 5‑star ANCAP rating, proper AEB (including junction assist) and adaptive cruise; skip wheels the size of pizza trays. Test-drive on the rough roads you actually use, check insurance, and remember servicing costs can undo a “bargain.” No single best—just the best fit for your commute, kids, and that tight car park at Woolies.
